Elite Picnic Backpacks
Picnic InformationChoosing the Right Picnic Cooler
03 27th, 2009Picnic coolers can come from those that fit just six cans of beverage, to those that fit 12 cans and sometimes more. Some are large and come with wheels and a handle and contain everything that you might need for a picnic. It’s all according to your picnicking style, how many people are going, and how many different types of foods and beverages you’d like to carry.
You’ll find small soft-sided Picnic Coolers available that can store your picnic needs, and yet are collapsible for easy storage when not in use. This type of picnic cooler may not keep your beverages or food as hot or cold has a hard sided cooler. They work well and are suited for those who enjoy picnicking for short periods of time. You’ll find that many of them contain storage compartments for paper plates, plastic ware, linens and beverage containers, and yet can still keep your food hot or cold for up to an hour or more.
Of course, you can always find a picnic cooler that will suit all your picnicking needs. You can even get them with a handle and wheels. Those families with small children are going to find one with wheels and a handle much easier to bring along. Some of these coolers come with storage compartments inside and are usually full of wide-open spaces for ice and a multitude of food and beverages. It’s all according to your needs as to what type of cooler you may want.

Why Bring along a Stadium Seat
03 26th, 2009I don’t know about you, but I know that when I have been sitting on a hard cold bleacher for awhile my back begins to bother me. I truly find a bleacher very hard to sit on for any length of time. They can be cold and uncomfortable after a while. If you have a back problem the bleacher will just add to the pain.
Bring along a Stadium Seat to add that extra cushion you need and the added support you need for your back. Also, it helps to keep you off the cold or hot bleacher and you are more comfortable.
The Stadium Seat comes in many styles and colors to suit everyone, some even come with a blanket to keep your legs warm.
Tips for the wine Connoisseur
03 25th, 2009
For those of you that love wine, you can find a wine picnic backpack that will hold your bottle of wine, the glasses, the corkscrew and all the essentials for the food that you want to bring. My favorite is a good cheese and crackers. A good one will have the wine holder as detachable and insulated. There will be separate places to put plates, glasses and silverware.
This is perfect for the cool summer day when you want to take that special person somewhere nice but you don’t want to spend alot of money on a fancy restaurant.
There are many different sizes, colors and styles to choose from giving you the opportunity to show your style. This is a unique twist on the regular straw picnic baskets that you have seen in the past.
How to pack your Picnic Basket
03 24th, 2009
Summer is coming soon enough and with summer and sun shine and warm weather we will find ourselves out doors more often. For some of us our family time is important. Going to the park and packing a Picnic Basket full of all home cooked food is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon with the family.
Knowing how to pack the picnic basket so to keep the food from spoiling and keeping your family safe is a good thing to know. You would first have plenty of ice packs to fill the basket and start by putting your meat and dairy at the bottom. The reason for this is that cool air goes to the bottom hot air rises. Put ice packs all around the food items, the more the better. You can then stack other items on top of the bottom items putting ice packs around these food items also. Be sure that the food you put in the picnic basket is cold, you won’t put hot or warm food items as that will effect the coolines of the picnic basket.
You would always try to keep the basket in the shade vs the sun or in a hot car.
Enjoy your family day in the park with your home cooked food and playing games and most of all be safe.

Different Style Wine Carriers
03 23rd, 2009
Some smaller restaurants have great meals but do not have a liquor license. Many couples bring their favorite bottle of wine along to the restaurant with them. You can turn a regular nite out into a romantic night out when you bring your own bottle of wine along with you.
Wine carriers come in several different types. We will discuss the “Classic” type. The classic type carries one to several bottles of wine. It has a zipper closure or velcro closing for the most part. They come in many styles and colors also. Some even come along with the corkscrew you would need.
It is a nice stylish way to bring your favorite bottle of wine with you to a restaurant in class. It is also nice if you should have any left to bring it home in a nice classy style. In todays economy this could also help you save some money.
I miss the Drive-In-Movies
03 20th, 2009
One of my fondest memories was going to the drive-in-movies my family would get in the car with pillows and blankets and my Mom always brought a cooler tote for the chilled soda.
To hear the movie we would drive up to a speaker, take the metal speaker place it on the window of the car. In our car we could talk or scream if the movie was scary and not distrub anyone.
I really miss the drive-in-movies and wish I could take my children to one today.
The Corkscrew History
03 19th, 2009
I found this article on Wikipedia on the history of Corkscrews.
Its design may have derived from the gun worm which was a device used by musketmen to remove unspent charges from a musket’s barrel in a similar fashion, from at least the early 1630s.
The corkscrew is possibly an English invention, due to the tradition of beer and cider, and Treatise on Cider by J. Worlidge in 1676 describes “binning of tightly corked cider bottles on their sides”, although the earliest reference to a corkscrew is, “steel worm used for the drawing of Corks out of Bottles” from 1681.
In 1795, the first corkscrew patent was granted to the Reverend Samuell Henshall, in England. The clergyman affixed a simple disk, now known as the Henshall Button, between the worm and the shank. The disk prevents the worm from going too deep into the cork, forces the cork to turn with the turning of the crosspiece, and thus breaks the adhesion between the cork and the neck of the bottle. The disk is designed and manufactured slightly concave on the underside, which compresses the top of the cork and helps keep it from breaking apart.

Bring along a Picnic Blanket
03 19th, 2009
I found this great article that I think blog readers would like to see that pretains to picnic blankets.
In contemporary usage, picnic can be defined simply as a pleasure excursion at which a meal is eaten outdoors (al fresco or en plein air), ideally taking place in a beautiful landscape such as a park, beside a lake or with an interesting view and possibly at a public event such as before an open air theatre performance, and usually in Summer.
Picnics are often family-oriented but can also be an intimate occasion between two people, or a large get-together such as company picnics and church picnics.
On romantic and family picnics a picnic basket and a picnic blanket (to sit or recline on) are usually brought along. Outdoor games or some other form of entertainment are common at large picnics.
Some picnics are a potluck, an entertainment at which each person contributed some dish to a common table for all to share. When the picnic is not also a cookout, the food eaten is rarely hot, instead taking the form of sandwiches, finger food, fresh fruit, salad, cold meats and accompanied by chilled wine or champagne or soft drinks.
